Battle of the Brushes
Get ready for a night where creativity takes center stage — and the paint flies! Battle of the Brushes is coming to the Innovation Centre in Kelowna on January 17 at 7:00 PM, bringing together 8 incredible local artists for an unforgettable live art battle.
Three rounds. Eight artists. One winner.
Each artist will have an hour to create their masterpiece live in front of an audience — no sketches, no second chances. You’ll get to watch the process unfold from blank canvas to finished piece, witnessing the magic, chaos, and courage that comes with creating under pressure. The audience will vote on winners from each round. Two from each round will advance to a final 45 minute round, where there will be one champion.
🎧 Live DJ beats will set the energy as the artists work. Between rounds, grab a drink from a local brewery, mingle with fellow art lovers, and cast your vote for your favourite artist.
✨ Brought to you by Creative Edge Therapy and Sun, Sage & Sand Art, the Okanagan Art Throwdown highlights the vibrant artistic energy of our community and the many ways creativity connects us.
Come cheer, sip, and be inspired — and maybe even leave with a new piece of art that was created right before your eyes. Raffle tickets for the art will be pulled at the end of the night.

“Authentic Athletes”? Explore the Connection Between Sport and Self.
“Authentic Athletes” began as a workshop I designed in grad school, rooted in my lived experience as a competitive figure skater and coach. The goal? To bring art therapy into the world of sport—where mental health often takes a backseat to performance.
What is “Art Therapy”?
Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creative processes—like drawing, painting, sculpting, or collage—to help people explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. It's based on the idea that the act of making art can be healing and transformative, even if you're not an artist.
